One day, an old man was walking along the beach when he noticed a young man picking up something and gently throwing it into the sea.

Approaching the young man, he asked, " What are you doing?"

The young mam replied, "Throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon the sun will be out and the tide will be going out. If I don't throw them back, they will surely die."

"Son", the old man replied, "don't you realise there are miles and miles of beaches and hundreds and hundreds of starfish ? You can't possibly make difference."

The young man looked at the small starfish in his hands and as he threw it safety of the sea, he said, " I made a difference to that one!"
